What is "yabai (やばい)"?

Meaning


The original meaning of “yabai” is the adjective to describe the situation that some dangerous or bad situation is approaching. Also, if you were to say he is yabai, it meant that he is a harmful to you.

Usual situation:

If I am hiding something from him, and he is getting really close to where it’s hidden. It’s YABAI😱

I am watching a soccer game and my favorite team just foul the guy in the box and opponent just received a PK opportunity at 2 min left in the game, that is “YABAI”

in the Positive Situation

However, we now say the word to be POSITIVE as well.

For example, if I am eating too good to be true meal, I would say “this is Yabai!” just like we say this is the bomb!

Or if I see somebody with mad skill, I would say Yabai!

「これはやばい! 」This is the bomb!!

Very useful to describe It’s too dangerous to be existing. It can be food, it can be the thing, it can be information.

Many things can be “YABAI” with the positive and very influential and beneficial thing.
