  • My favorite Dagashi: Yocchan Ika (seasoned dry squid).

  • SORRY, it has been closed.

The ”Dagashi” is a Japanese old school snack. This type of store used to serve kids with snacks all the time but with time changes, you really don’t see anything like this anymore. I lived thru the time, so I know a little bit about it, but this type of store for us is really what the “kid in the candy store”. I grew up not too far way from this store and I used to enjoy Dagashi store when I was about 6 until 12 years old. The place was my hang out spots to see school friends. After school is done, we will go home and get out right away, which usually about the 3pm snack time. So much memory from the time with various kinds of snacks and friends. But now, you can buy so many different kinds of snacks at convenient store like seven Eleven, Family Mart, Lawson. Not exactly the same snack, some are similar to the original-really playing that nostalgia. This Kimuraya in Yanaka district is really one of a few that is still left. SO SPECIAL! It’s really nice to see this atmosphere and feel the nostalgia (at least for me). When you walk the streets of Yanaka, you feel that time has gone back a few decades. I really enjoy seeing the store like this and pick up some old school snacks. So fun!

Yanaka District is where Old fashioned Japan still exists.
Just walking around this area reminds me of my childhood scene.
